Corners and Skies.
2015, 24 x 24, acrylic and vinyl on hardboard, and walnut frame.
Observing indoor architectural corners made me think about the air and space in-between those walls, ceiling and floor. I imagined the air being connected, through air, to that contained in other possible rooms within the building, and to the sky outside, to outer space and infinity.
The English word "corner" means both "esquina (street corner), and "rincón" (architectural corner) in Spanish. This idea of two everyday words that to me are delineators of tri-dimentionality, inspired me to make drawings of corners found around my house and street corners found on google maps. I thought about the word sky as inspiring "expansion" and corner "restriction".
